Honorees

Patty Berg became one of golf’s youngest-ever national champions in 1938 with her victory in the U.S. Amateur at age 20.  Eight years later, she won the inaugural United States Women’s Open.  Her victory total before becoming a professional in 1940 was 28. As a professional, she twice accumulated six victories in a season in winning a total of 57 times, headed the LPGA Tour’s money list three times, and won three of its first four awards for year-long scoring
average.

Known as “Golf's Goodwill Ambassador,” she is unrivaled as a promoter of the game of golf through clinics and exhibitions. As a founder, charter member and the first president of the Ladies Professional Golf Association, Patty Berg was a driving force in laying the foundations for the present success of women’s professional golf in the United States.  She has received virtually every honor the game has to offer, including the 1963 Bob Jones Award, the 1975 Ben Hogan Award, and induction into both the LPGA Hall of Fame and the World Golf Hall of Fame.
