Journalism Award

Diaz joined GolfWorld in May 2001. In January of 2012, he was named as the 23rd recipient of the PGA Lifetime Achievement Award in Journalism. Beginning with the 1985 U.S. Open, Diaz has covered more than 100 major championships. He has been awarded first place six times in the Golf Writers Association of America's Annual Writing Contest.  

Before he joined Golf World, Diaz wrote for The New York Times and Sports Illustrated. He has authored or co-authored five books, most recently collaborating with Hank Haney on The Big Miss, which was released in late March, 2012.  

Diaz earned his B.A. in English from the University of San Francisco in 1975.
